POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Position Title: In-School Suspension Supervisor
- School Department: Designated School
- Supervisor: Principal and Assistant Principal
- Terms of Employment: Per Classified Conditions of Employment
Primary Function:
To supervise and assist students assigned to in-school suspension.
Essential Duties:
- Recognize the basic dignities of students, parents and families, colleagues, and subordinates.
- Exercise due care to protect the mental and physical safety of students.
- Monitor students during assigned periods to maintain a quiet, safe and positive learning environment.
- Implement special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on individual student needs, interests and abilities.
- Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by classroom teachers.
- Implement and assist in the development of appropriate prompting strategies to develop students’ maximum independence.
- Maintain a variety of confidential data bases and records to document activities and provide reliable information for program facilitation.
- Administer classroom activities and tasks as assigned for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.
- Maintain a record of accountability for student activities during class time for the purpose of reporting to the classroom teachers or administrative staff, if the students are not making good use of time.
- Promote good study habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications and Characteristics:
- A high school diploma or an equivalent

- A past record clear of criminal activity and child abuse or neglect
Working Conditions:
The duties of this position are performed in all school environments. Persons are required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, and depth perception. Noise levels in the working environments may be moderately loud or loud. Occasionally, persons are required to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Persons are also required to maintain emotional composure under stress.
