REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
Pay Range: $42,800-$64,200 (214 days)
POSITION PURPOSE: To oversee preschool programming for Concord schools (½ time) and teach (½ time) preschool pupils academic, social, and manipulative skills in public educational systems by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
District Preschool Responsibilities (½ time)
Provide leadership of district preschool needs half of each day.
Ensuring a developed curriculum is delivered to students that takes into consideration factors such as individual needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations of students.
Oversee necessary professional development to preschool teachers and staff to ensure the highest quality of instruction and care.
Set and communicate goals for the preschool, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
Oversees administration of tests that evaluate pupil’s progress, record results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
Ensures that staff communicate pupil’s academic and behavior problems with parents and suggests remedial action.
Ensures classrooms have an effective management plan and in other school activities.
Demonstrates leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills including giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Leads preschool staff meetings, attends educational conferences, and facilitates preschool training workshops.
Exhibits a proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions.
Provide responsibility and oversight of OnMyWayPreK, preschool payment, and other financial aspects of preschool.
Collaborate with local schools, organizations, and community partners to enhance preschool programs and visibility.
Establish and maintain communication with Head Start, coordinating collaboration between Concord preschool and Head Start classrooms.
Lead teacher works collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent, Teachers, Assistants, and Families toward providing preparation for a child’s entrance into Kindergarten.

Teacher Responsibilities (½ time)
Serve as a preschool teacher half of each day.
The teacher is responsible for providing excellent care and appropriately challenging educational experiences for the age group they are directly responsible for monitoring.
Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other materials, considering factors, such as individual needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations of students.
Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
Administers tests to evaluate pupil’s progress, record results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
Discusses pupil’s academic and behavior problems with parents and suggests remedial action.
Maintain discipline in the classroom and in other school activities.
Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
Teacher works collaboratively with the teachers, paraprofessionals, and families toward providing preparation for a child’s entrance into Kindergarten.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications: BA or BS degree in Early Childhood Education with two years of teaching experience in an exemplary early childhood setting or K-6 elementary license with two years of teaching experience in Kindergarten or 1st Grade.
Preferred Qualifications: BA or BS in Early Childhood Education or K-6 elementary license with two years of teaching experience in Kindergarten or 1st Grade and leadership experience in an educational setting.
Minimum of 21 years of age.
Ability to plan and organize.
Skills in human relations.
Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents.
Able to implement State of Indiana Child Care Regulations, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
Design and maintain a classroom and outdoor play environment that includes clearly defined, well organized activity areas which meet accreditation criteria
Organizing and arranging the classroom to incorporate a variety of activities, soft elements, and personal space for each child.
Ensure that the classroom is child-centered by displaying posters, artwork, etc., at child’s eye level and offering a variety of materials and activities that are developmentally appropriate.
Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.

The employee should be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work: pen, pencil, pointer, stylus, projector, public address system, tape recorder, blackboard, chalk, charts, diagrams, examinations, manuals, maps, publications, reference books, textbooks, and computers.
Pass physical exam including negative intradermal TB screen.
Pass a 5 panel drug screening.
