JOB TITLE: Boys Basketball Coach
TYPE OF POSITION: Extra Duty
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director and Building Principal
Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced High School Basketball Coach to lead and develop our basketball program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coaching, player development, and team leadership. The coach will be responsible for fostering a competitive and positive environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
Essential Functions:
Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the basketball program, including practice sessions, game strategies, and player development.
Teach fundamental basketball skills and advanced techniques to student-athletes.
Develop and implement training programs that enhance individual and team performance.
Foster a culture of discipline, hard work, respect, and teamwork among players.
Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes, promoting academic success and personal growth.
Develop game strategies and make real-time decisions during games to maximize team performance.
Ensure player safety by enforcing proper techniques and maintaining compliance with all school and athletic association regulations.
Coordinate with school administration, athletic directors, and parents regarding schedules, policies, and team expectations.
Evaluate potential student-athletes for the basketball program.
Organize and supervise fundraising activities and community engagement efforts to support the team.
Maintain and manage all basketball equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in coaching basketball, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
Strong knowledge of basketball techniques, rules, and strategies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes both on and off the court.
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
Familiarity with athletic association regulations and school policies.
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
Valid Indiana teaching license preferred
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Work Schedule:
Availability for practices, games, and travel, including evenings and weekends.
Additional time required for team meetings, conditioning sessions, and special events.
