POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Position Title: Bilingual Secretary
- School/Department: Designated School
- Supervisor: Principal and Assistant Principal
- Terms of Employment: Per Classified Conditions of Employment
Essential Duties:
- Answers telephone and gives information to callers or routes call to appropriate person.
- Greet visitors, ascertains natures of business, and conducts visitors to appropriate person.
- Answers inquiries and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
- Serves as the liaison between parents, teachers, and school personnel
- Communicates issues of interest to parents through various formats
- Facilitates positive proactive communication between families
- Translates verbal and written communication to families including classroom, office, or district correspondence
- Translates at parent/family events and activities, such as parent-teacher conferences, IEP/ILP conferences, behavior meetings, and schoolwide, districtwide, or enrollment events
- Responds to families to facilitate communication and collaboration with the school
- Informs families of opportunities to participate in their child(ren)’s academic success
- Performs other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications and Characteristics:
- High school diploma
- Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence in both English and Spanish or other languages, as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication, and problem solving skills to align with building and district goals
- The ability to sustain a safe, respectful, and professional office environment
- The ability to enforce corporation and school rules and policies, including adhering to strict confidentiality policies
- The ability to use various technology resources
- A past record clear of criminal activity and child abuse or neglect
Working Conditions:
The duties of this position are performed in a classroom environment. Persons are required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch. Additionally, persons may need to lift objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, and depth perception. Noise levels in the working environments may be moderately loud or loud. Occasionally, persons are required to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Persons are also required to maintain emotional composure under stress.
